The latch bolt is retracted by the thumb press / knob / lever on either side, except when the outside thumb press is locked by stop button, then it can only be opened from the exterior by use of the key. Making it ideal for doors you want to automatically lock. This feature can be easily toggled on and off by pressing the stop and release button on the mortise box face.
Operating the interior trim retracts both the deadbolt and the latch bolt for emergency egress.
